Welcome! My name is Kate Navarro Fessler. After nearly 30 years in the corporate world, in 2008 I left my well-paying, highly respected job. I had been in the same field for about 15 years, and with this same company since 2000. I loved my team, and still enjoyed the work to a point, but I was completely burned out. I found it difficult to concentrate, and I was so, so tired all the time. I felt like there was a cloud around my head that I just couldn’t break free from.
Before I left, I took a certification course from Valerie Young at Changing Course in Outside the Job Box consulting. It opened my eyes to the opportunities to make a living without a j-o-b, and I thought, “that’s my calling, that’s what I’m going to do.”
So I packed up my office tchotchkes and mementos from my career, and set out to change my life and the lives of others.
What I discovered, though, was that, despite what the celebrity coaches tell you, it’s not quite that easy. At least it wasn’t for me. I had to change the way I thought completely, from employee to entrepreneur.
I made a lot of mistakes. I invested a lot of money in marketing and business building coaching and programs. It only made me more confused. I didn’t understand what made me different, in fact I didn’t think there was anything unique about me in the sea of other coaches and consultants who were all out there offering similar services to potential clients. I thought I had to make myself into them, and I just couldn’t do it.
Over time, I discovered that there really wasn’t anyone out there who could help me get where I wanted to go, and I was ready to give up. But I just couldn’t go waive the flag of surrender and go back into a regular job.
That’s when it hit me – if I could figure this out for myself, I could help others do it too!
It is my passion, and my purpose, to shake up the status quo, to learn a new way of living so I could model that and teach it others. I understand what it’s like to leave behind the “safety” and “security” of a well-paying job, to strike out on your own with nothing but faith in yourself and an idea that you’re meant for something bigger, something important.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me; other times I can barely see. Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it’s been. ~ Grateful Dead, “Truckin”
It’s wasn’t a straight line. There were a lot of dead ends, and lot of sleepless nights, crying and praying. In my big, expensive mastermind groups, I felt all alone, like I was the only one who didn’t “get it.” I got a lot of advice that felt uncomfortable to implement. I had to figure out, was it because I was resisting, or was it because it wasn’t right for me?
I learned that a one-size-fits-all approach to a very personal experience just didn’t work for me. Maybe it hasn’t worked for you either.
Enlightenment through Entrepreneurship
Nothing brings up your “stuff” like embarking on the journey to self-actualization. You have to get to really know yourself – the good, the bad, and the ugly, as they say. You have to dig deep, and own who you really are. It’s not hard to own your flaws, we do it all day every day. What is hard is to own your brilliance, to really embrace that you have a unique reason for being here, that all of your life experience and innate wisdom adds up to something only you can offer, and that you really can have whatever you want – provided (this is a critical point) you know what that is and are willing to ask for it and allow it into your life. You may not understand what that means right now, but if you choose to take this journey ~ with me, with someone else, or on your own ~ trust me, you will!
Lots of people give advice about how to live your “best life.” What I do, my unique brilliance, is help you discover and craft “your” best life. It may or may not be what the magazines tell you. Because it’s personal and unique to you. If you chase after what someone else says you should want, you will always be disappointed. I’m a “status quo buster.” I don’t advocate falling in line with the herd. I want to teach you a game-changing way of living.
My “superpower” is to help others discover, own, and create the life they want to be living, without destroying everything they’ve already built in their lives. I can teach you how to gracefully transition from where you are now to where you want to be so you won’t make the same mistakes I did and you’ll be successful a lot sooner. And I can help steer you through those dark places, when all your fears and insecurities come up, because I’ve been there and can see clearly from the other side.
